Apple is making a big splash in the Lone Star State later this month as SXSW invades Austin, Texas once again.

On Tuesday, South by Southwest (SXSW) and Eventbase, a mobile event platform, released an update of the official 2015 SXSW GO app.

The updates, we're told, effective change the way people experience the cultural and technology festival. How so? Through the deployment of a ton of Apple iBeacons.

This year's app will offer an unparalleled event experience with industry-leading technology including the largest deployment of iBeacons at an event and a new social networking feature.

"Integrating new ideas and technologies into the fabric of SXSW is always something we strive to do," said SXSW Director of Technology Scott Wilcox in a news release. "We're excited to work with Eventbase on this large-scale project as mobile has become such an important platform for us."

According to the details presented, more than 1,000 beacons will be deployed to enhance an in-app social networking feature called Around Me, which will help attendees check into zones and quickly identify what's happening nearby and people who have also checked in recently.
