On Friday, reports emerged that Apple has procured some top industry talent, this time from the luxury vehicle maker Mercedes-Benz.

Based on what we know, Apple has hired Johann Jungwirth, who happens to be the ex-president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research & Development. 9to5Mac asserts that Jungwirth has been tapped to serve as Apple's Director of Mac Systems Engineering.

The only confirmation we have of Apple's latest talent grab comes to us by way of Jungwirth's LinkedIn page. Of course, the hire is not a shock to anyone, particularly given Apple's growing interest in vehicle technologies and its purported "secretive new automotive research lab."

Neither Jungwirth nor Apple have commented on their new working relationship but LinkedIn says the new hire has been with Apple since September.

While at Mercedes-Benz, Jungwirth's areas of focus included: Connected Car, UI & Telematics, Autonomous Driving, Advanced User Experience Design, Powertrain & eDrive, Advanced Exterior Design & MB Style, Group Research, and Testing & Regulatory Affairs.
