Default Tesla and Apple Fight for the Same Employees

Bloomberg has reported that Apple and Tesla have recently been trying to recruit talent from one another. According to Bloomberg, the electric carmaker has hired a minimum of 150 ex-Apple employees. The Cupertino-based company on the other hand has put up as much as $250,000 in bonuses and a 60% salary increase to sign their targets.

The company has hired at least 150 former Apple employees, more than from any other company, even carmakers. The former Apple staffers work in many areas of the 6,000-employee automaker, including engineering and law. “From a design philosophy, [Apple] is relatively closely aligned,” says Musk, Tesla’s co-founder and chief executive officer. Apple declined to comment for this story.
It was noted that many previous Apple employees decided to join Tesla because CEO Elon Musk is very similar to Jobs and because the company deals with electric cars. According to Bloomberg, Musk enjoys being compared to Jobs and even has a soft spot for the CEO. However, according to Musk, the Cupertino-based company has really been after their employees.

"Apple tries very hard to recruit from Tesla," Musk said. "But so far they've actually recruited very few people."
One former Apple employee who went to Tesla includes Apple’s previous VP of Mac Hardware Engineering, Doug Field. Field is now in charge of the development of new vehicles over at Tesla.

The report has also noted that the two companies have interacted before. Apparently Apple wanted to purchase the electric car-making company at one point and Musk stated that the two companies have had conversations before as well.

If you were an employee, which company would you prefer working for? Let us know in the section below.
