Default China's Apple Store Resembles Upcoming Flagship in San Francisco

Apple’s new Retail Store in Hangzhou, China was stripped of its protective barriers on Tuesday and it has been reported that it closely mirrors the upcoming San Francisco flagship store. The new store in Hangzhou has a glass facade, which turns into a split-level interior. According to MacX, a Chinese Apple forum, Foster+Partners were responsible for designing both Hangzhou and San Francisco’s Union Square location. Foster+Partners also designed the Cupertino-based company’s Campus 2 project.

Just a few days ago Angela Ahrendts, Apple SVP of Retail said in an exclusive interview that five new Apple Retail Stores would be opening up in China. The store in Hangzhou was previously covered and only had an Apple logo and Chinese poem on the white protective barriers. The Chinese poem was painted by Wang Dongling, a Chinese calligrapher and then later put onto Apple’s China website. Those who want to take a look at the calligraphy can still view it on Apple’s informational webpage. The West Lake Hangzhou Apple Store will open on January 24th at 9a.m. local time.
