Default Tim Cook Remembers Steve Jobs Three Years After His Passing

This weekend marks the third anniversary of Steve Jobs' untimely passing at the age of 56 following a protracted battle with pancreatic cancer.

The loss of Jobs, a tech visionary that both created Apple and eventually saved it from potential demise, was a major blow to the tech world in 2011. But three years later, Jobs still remains as vivid as ever inside the minds of Apple employees, including new CEO Tim Cook.

Consequently, ahead of the weekend, Cook reached out to Apple employees with a memo that reflects on the tremendous life and legacy of his former boss and close friend, Steve Jobs. Cook's letter reads as follows:

    Team,

Sunday will mark the third anniversary of Steve's passing. I'm sure that many of you will be thinking of him on that day, as I know I will.

I hope you'll take a moment to appreciate the many ways Steve made our world better. Children learn in new ways thanks to the products he dreamed up. The most creative people on earth use them to compose symphonies and pop songs, and write everything from novels to poetry to text messages. Steve's life's work produced the canvas on which artists now create masterpieces.

Steve's vision extended far beyond the years he was alive, and the values on which he built Apple will always be with us. Many of the ideas and projects we're working on today got started after he died, but his influence on them and on all of us is unmistakeable.

Enjoy your weekend, and thanks for helping carry Steve's legacy into the future.

    Tim

Tim seems more down to Earth, but much less forward-thinking than Jobs to me. Nothing really revolutionary has been released since Steve died. Looks at the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, nothing really new to the market. The camera is really the only thing that can be seen as a new thing that nobody else has. The hardware is still lackluster compared to higher-end Android phones, and you're still paying more.

Apple needs to build revolutionary products, not hype products. All I have seen since Steve died are pure hype products with a few small additions, even for the big new number releases. Give us real (new) products.

The only thing I will ever remember about Steve Jobs is the following quote:

“Steve was adamant that he bathed once a week, and that was adequate as long he was eating a fruitarian diet..."

I guess Steve Jobs did nothing to innovate the deodorant market...
