Apple has confirmed plans to open its newest retail store on Chinese soil next week.

The news came straight from Apple in recent hours as the company updated its Chinese website with news of the grand opening, slated for Wuxi, China in the Wuxi Hang Lung Plaza.

Located in relative close proximity to Shanghai and Apple's retail presence there, the new store -- set to open the morning of Saturday, August 2 -- will be the 12th such retail outlet Apple has christened in China to date, with many more on the way we're told.

Not only was Apple's interest in China made crystal clear this week during the company's Q3 earnings call, sources close to the iDevice maker say that newly installed retail chief Angela Ahrendts has big plans for China on the retail front.

Current plans reportedly call for the opening of 20 additional stores in China over the next two to three years.
