On Tuesday, as the financial world braces for the latest earnings data from Apple, Chitika announced its latest findings with regard to leading tablet market shares across the continent of North America.

What picture does the data paint for Apple's iPad? A promising one, as it appears Apple is still selling tons of tablets based on the usage data presented today.

"Since April 2014," Chitika reports, "the share of tablet Web traffic generated by North American Apple iPad and Kindle Fire users has increased by 0.8 and 1.2 percentage points, respectively. These represent the two largest quarter-over-quarter increases for any tablet brand, while Samsung’s user base exhibited the largest share loss over the same timeframe, dropping two full percentage points."

All told, Apple now accounts for 78% of overall tablet usage, compared to the scant percentages owned by everyone from Amazon and Samsung, to Google and Microsoft. Interestingly, the data presented today showcases some amazing news for Amazon. In North America, the Kindle Fire user base is now ahead of Samsung’s when it comes to total Web traffic generated.
