Default Apple Representative Sheds More Light About Upcoming Photos App

Apple recently announced that they would be discontinuing the Aperture photo management software so they can focus on a new photos app introduced at WWDC. Like all other upcoming Apple products, the new Photos app remains hushed, therefore Aperture users are left with a lot of uncertainty. However, Ars Technica obtained additional information from an Apple representative and said that specific professional-grade features would be incorporated unreleased app.

When asked about what Aperture-like features users can expect from the new Photos app, an Apple representative mentioned plans for professional-grade features such as image search, editing, effects, and most notably, third-party extensibility.
A few of the editing features were already shown when Apple released a screenshot of Photos. In the photo, settings for Color (Contrast, Saturation, Cast), Light (Exposure, Brightness, Blacks, Highlights, Shadows), Definition, Levels, Vignette, Black & White, and White Balance were shown in the adjustment panel. Apple went only as far as saying that existing users of Aperture will be able to import their existing libraries into the new Photos app. The upcoming app is said to launch early next year.

Now if NIK updates their suite to work with photo's then maybe losing Aperture won't be all that bad.
