Despite the recent hype surrounding Google's Android Auto, it doesn't appear that the world's leading automakers are abandoning Apple and iOS by any means.

In fact, on Tuesday, the list of car makers behind Apple's CarPlay grew even longer. Apple has just updated the roster of auto giants embracing the service. The new entries on the list include Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Mazda, and Ram.

"Available on select new cars in 2014, CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your iPhone in the car," Apple says, boasting that CarPlay "takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and puts them right on your carís built-in display."

Although the new automakers on board with CarPlay won't be launching the service integration for quite some time, Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo are already pledging to support CarPlay this year.
