The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is set to salute Apple's venerable lead designer Jony Ive later this year with a prestigious lifetime achievement award.

The recognition comes in response to what the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art calls Ive's "revolutionary achievements" during his lengthy tenure at Apple.

“Ive is our generation’s most innovative and influential figure in the field of industrial design—no other design mind has done more to transform the way we visualize and share information,” SFMOMA director Neal Benezra is quoted in a statement published Wednesday. “SFMOMA was the first museum on the West Coast to establish a department of architecture and design, and we’re thrilled to celebrate Ive’s revolutionary achievements.”

On October 30th, Ive will be presented with the 2014 Bay Area Treasure Award.
