According to published reports Tuesday, Apple has plans in place to open a retail store inside of New York World Trade Center in time for its 2015 opening.

Although talk of said plans first surfaced last fall, it now appears that definite plans are proceeding. The Real Deal, a trendy New York real estate publication, reported just this week that Apple is "expected to take space in the project."

The new World Trade Center's shopping center will be occupied by a host of venerable retailers and brands spanning Hugo Boss to Mont Blanc.

"After several years of insurance disputes and construction negotiations, Silverstein Properties and the Port Authority are moving forward to open all of the new WTC skyscrapers by 2015," those behind the new WTC say on the official World Trade Center website. "The redeveloped WTC site, including the reduced footprint of 7 WTC, will restore Greenwich Street through the site, reuniting the Financial District with Tribeca and supporting the renaissance of Lower Manhattan."

Apple is yet to publicly confirm plans for the WTC-based retail store.
