Last month, Apple formally unveiled CarPlay, which gives iPhone users an intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music and access messages while in their vehicles.

From Ferrari to Mercedes-Benz, a number of leading global automakers are on board with CarPlay. Just this week, Hyundai confirmed that CarPlay is coming to the 2015 Sonata. Hyundai confirms that the new ride will be available at dealerships this summer, although pricing is yet to be announced.

If you're in the market for a 2014 Sonata, however, you will need to shell out a pretty penny to enjoy CarPlay. In fact, you would have to add a Premium Package valued at $3,000 in addition to signing off on the upgrade to the SE trim model, which adds close to another $3,000 to the final price. All told, if you really want CarPlay for your 2014 model, you may have to tack on another $6,000 to the sticker price.

At that point, the 2015 model may look a lot better to you. Nonetheless, CarPlay for the Sonata comes at a lower ultimate price point than what you would pay for a higher-end vehicle, like a Ferrari or Volvo.
