Following its successful deployment everywhere from the 2014 SXSW festival in Texas, to museums and sports stadiums across the U.S., Apple's iBeacon is growing fast in popularity and its general pervasiveness.

On Wednesday, word came from the organizers of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival that iBeacon will join their party as well. For now, we can only tell you that Coachella will let attendees "use Bluetooth to interact with beacons placed around the grounds."

Otherwise, few other details have emerged as of this writing. But it's safe to expect the usual notifications and navigation assistance made possible by the technology.

iBeacon is the indoor positioning system described by Apple as a “new class of low-powered, low-cost transmitters” that enables push notifications to be sent to iOS devices in close proximity.

Coachella, which kicks off this Friday, is an annual two-weekend, three-day music and arts festival held in Indio, California. To learn more, check out the official website here.
