Default Microsoft Hopes to Leapfrog Apple With AI-driven Devices In The Future.

A substantial and wide-ranging artificial intelligence program has been introduced by Microsoft, only days after announcing Cortana- a personal digital assistant for the Windows phone, much like Apple’s Siri. Yoram Yaakobie, Microsoft research executive, tells The Wall Street Journal:

User interface started with the command prompt, moved to graphics, then touch, and then gestures. It's now moving to invisible UI, where there is nothing to operate. The tech around you understands you and what you want to do. We're putting this at the forefront of our efforts.
Microsoft is trying to delve into the future where users will no longer need to tell their devices what to do by touching or speaking to it. But instead, the device will passively intake information it has already prepared in anticipation of the user’s needs. Google and Apple are both heading in this direction, though, the technology is still far from completion.

Microsoft has reportedly invested heavy money in a so-called ‘invisible user tech’ and Jeannette Wing, Research VP of Microsoft said "we were in an AI winter, and now we're in an AI spring," Thus, referring to the new industry-wide focus on artificial intelligence.

What do you think, who will get there first? Leave your thoughts below!

One of the big boys will make it first (Apple, Google, Microsoft).

Whoever it is will take too long to implement user feedback/be stubborn about where the technology goes/not allow it to be used with the other big boys.

The next guy will implement too much user feedback and it'll be some bad, open-source silliness that nerds love for a minute but users find heavily unresponsive and laden with bloatware.

Some random team of nerds will finally make it right.

The one who didn't make it yet will buy that company.

I think the one that ends up buying that company that gets it right, though, will be the one who releases, before all of this, a preview that everybody gets really excited about of the product but never actually comes out.

It all slowly dies away/there is low demand for half a decade until it makes a big comeback.

I feel we are a long way away from making this a viable product. Companies may be investing in research and possible prototypes, yet they are not even mentioning it yet. I'm sure we will get there..just not right now..future.

Microsoft hopes for many things but rarely achieves them. So long as Ballmer keeps interfering they're doomed.

Microsoft also set out to defeat the iPod with the Zune. Ask the next 5 people you see "What is a Zune?"

The Metro UI was originally created for a Zune. It's incredible to me that they decided to put it on desktops after that.

Exactly, the Zune was much more important for what it did to Microsoft as a whole than trying to be a successful product and failing on epic proportions...

I'll take a flip phone if I can have 'Pepper' Potts as an assistant.
