Default Yahoo! Working On Siri-esque Personal Assistant

Yahoo! is said to be working on a new voice-controlled personal assistant app that we could get our first look at early in the new year.

Android Police exclusively reported Wednesday that Yahoo's plans follow its recent acquisition of SkyPhrase, a natural language processing startup. Although it was initially thought that the purchase would be put to use in improving already-existing Yahoo products, it now appears that something new is in the works.

We now have evidence that Yahoo! is putting their language processing powers to the test with a voice-controlled assistant app which includes predictive information, like Google Now with some of the conversational prowess of Siri.
For the time being, it appears - but certainly is not confirmed - that the Yahoo assistant will be very traffic-savvy. From allowing for easy note and message dictation for drivers, to providing travel updates and directions, this platform looks like a potential winner for Yahoo.

Although today's report calls the forthcoming resource a potentially "formidable competitor to Google's Search app," there really aren't enough details available at this time to tell if Yahoo's newest project will be a stud or a dud.
