Default Shades of Apple in Square's Makeover

This morning, payments company Square showed off the slim new figure of its ultra-hot mobile credit card reader.

What makes the refresh of note in the world of Apple news is that the new look of the Square reader boasts a few faint traces of Apple.

According to a comprehensive profile of the product from Wired, former Apple engineer and current Square VP of Hardware Jesse Dorogusker put his magic to work on the device. With an emphasis on creating a slimmer, more compact model (sound familiar?), Square achieved what the company calls its most attractive and sophisticated design.

In short, it's got the design expertise of Dorogusker written all over it. Dorogusker, who spent nearly a decade at Apple, is said to be the visionary behind a number of deigns that led to critical Apple patents including that of the smart dock. Previously, his talents were also put to use on accessory hardware, one of which ultimately became the company's Lightning connector.

To check out the full product review and look for traces of Apple yourself, the complete Wired report can be accessed here.

yeah..its thinner. Like the thinness of the iPhone itself. Sometimes you wonder why things weren't made that way to begin with?? haha! Guess it gives them room to make it look like they've made valuable upgrades/changes?? Who knows.
