Unhappy Please Help: SWOD After Cydia Update
Hi everyone. I was hoping you could help me out with a problem I'm having.

I jailbroke my 1st gen. ipod touch using redsnow 0.7, and installed Cydia.

All was working fine until I did a pack of "essential upgrades" within Cydia, and now, when I turn it on, I get the SWOD and it is in a constant state of reboot.

    Here's my current setup: Win. XP, iTunes v. 8.2.1 I believe, 1st gen. 16gb itouch, redsn0w 0.7.

Here's what I've tried to fix it:
hard reset (holding power and main center button down until it reboots),

re-jailbreaking (using newest v. of redsnow, 0.8 - not sure if this counts as going into DFU mode or not?),

and per reading some others posts I googled, using diskaid to delete a 1kb file in the Cydia folder whose name I can't remember at the moment, and I still can't get it to come back.

Is it possible to get it all back without completely restoring and losing all my apps?

Is there a way to back up my apps for the future so in case this happens again, I'll be good to go?

If not, is there a good resource on how to do a full restore?

Thanks for all your help, it's truly appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Woodsy

Turn it off, hold home button, and plug into your computer with iTunes open. It should boot into recovery mode. Restore from there. You also might wanna search for the 3.1 jailbreaking/downgrading threads unless you don't mind being on 3.1.
