most businesses and schools have their internet locked down pretty tight and close many internet ports.
i know for one that my school only has port 80 open for internet use.
so basically i think that mail and apollo run on other ports that are most likely closed and i think that there is no easy way around this.

you can still use meebo.com for msn messenger which is optimized for iphone and for mail, gmail or hotmail or whatever service you use on the internet

you could maybe use a proxy server but i cant give you any help on this because i have never set one up.

    hope any of this helps

They probably have the Mail and Chat ports blocked.
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.
