Post How do you edit the 'iPod' text in the top left of the screen?
So im sitting there, thinking how I could more waste time modding my iPod and I notice the iPod text in the top left. I think, how boring. Its obviously an iPod, especially since you own it. Id like to put my name or something funky there (ideas?).

Im pretty experienced with the whole editing strings and SSHing, but can anybody tell me the whereabouts of the string for the iPod text and its Address on the iPod?

    Cheers guys and gals!

    Tom

not to be quoted as fact, but i believe it can be achieved with the latest version of Customize.app. i think you need to do something to the customize.app program to make it work for the touch.

    Well, that isnt text.

The 'iPod' word is actually a .png image.

It might be the same as a carrier logo on an iPhone...

you need to replace two files in "system/library/coreservice/springboard.app/" they are named "Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png" and "FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png"
you need to replace them with image file in png format in 20*60 pixels.
use ftp to transfer the files over.

There is a new app in installer.app called Make It Mine that edits the text to whatever you want it to say.
