Default Apple Seeds iOS 8.4 Beta 1 to Developers With a New Redesigned Music App

With no jailbreak in sight yet for iOS 8.3, Apple is already getting ready to release another major update for its mobile devices – iOS 8.4. The first beta of iOS 8.4 was seeded to developers Monday evening with an all-new redesigned Music application that comes with a ton of new features.

Apple notes in the update description for developers what's new in the Music application in iOS 8.4:

All-New Design. Music app has a beautiful new design that makes exploring your music collection easier and more fun. Personalize playlists by adding your own image and description. Enjoy stunning pictures of your favorite artists in the Artists view. Start playing an album right from the album list. The music you love is never more than a tap away.
Recently Added. Albums and playlists you’ve recently added are now at the top of your library, making it effortless to find something new to play. Simply tap play on the artwork to listen.
Streamlined iTunes Radio. Discovering music with iTunes Radio is easier than ever. You can now quickly return to your favorite stations in Recently Played. Choose from a selection of hand-curated stations in Featured Stations, or start a new one from your favorite artist or song.
New MiniPlayer. With the new MiniPlayer, you can see what’s playing and control playback while browsing your music collection. To open Now Playing, just tap on the MiniPlayer.
Improved Now Playing. Now Playing has a stunning new design that showcases your album artwork the way it was meant to be. In addition, you can begin wirelessly streaming your music using AirPlay without leaving Now Playing.
Up Next. It’s now simple to find out which songs from your library will play next — just tap the Up Next icon in Now Playing. You can even reorder, add, or skip songs whenever you like.
Global Search. You can now search from anywhere in the Music app — just tap the magnifying glass. Search results are conveniently organized to help you quickly find that perfect song. You can even start an iTunes Radio station right from Search.
Among the changes, you'll see Apple has borrowed even more from the jailbreak community, including music queuing, and a new mini-player for the Music application among other things.

Reports across the Web are hinting that this new Music application could be tied to Apple's upcoming music streaming service that is expected to be announced in June at WWDC 2015.

Interesting. I've been able to "queue" my music since iOS 6 with my jailbroken device.

True, Melodic works wonders, but I end up doing most of my music navigation in siri, so having it built in would make things way simpler. Now the only major music feature I want Apple to add is controlling iTunes with siri.

I was hoping that Saurik would update his cyqueue tweak... I can't believe how long it's taken for the queue option to be added to the stock iOS... Bout time..

I know right, I had always used tweaks to achieve this, like UpNext and Aria

Ive been a pro in the music/recording biz for many many years. And I don't understand what you're referring to as "music queuing". What is it? And why do you need it in iTunes?.. When I'm using iTunes I listen to my songs beginning to end or I pull the scrubber bar from left to right to jump to a different place in the song. What more do we need?

You're not thinking in the right context. It has nothing to do with scrubbing through the current song and everything to do with what comes next.

Let's say that I was shuffling my music and it played a song from an album I like and it reminded me of another song I want to hear from that album/artist. If I'm at a stop light or something and the first song hasn't nearly finished, I might only have a moment to make changes, so I can only choose to listen to one or the other. I want to listen to one THEN the other. I shouldn't have to stop playback of the current song to set up the next song.

With queuing, I can pick that other song and place it next in the playback queue. When the current track finishes, the other song I wanted to listen to will play. When that finishes, it will resume shuffling. The way it is done currently I am always cutting off songs I wanted to listen to so I can play something it reminded me I also want to listen to and then I am stuck in an album I didn't want to listen to until the next moment where I can get back to it to manage/shuffle all. It doesn't help that Siri tries to play iTunes Radio instead half the time when I try to use my BT car kit to get things back to shuffling all tracks.

For the love of God can we get the ability to add a Now Playing song to a playlist.. I can do it on every music streaming app, but not the freakin stock app with my own music.

Music queuing lets you select what song will play next after the one already playing. It should be thought of as a temporary playlist that is lost in the space time continuum after it has been used, so it will need to be re-created after it plays if you want the same results to happen again.

It works good for DJs that need to AFK.

DJs don't typically listen from start to end because they want to entertain their guests with variety.

Jailbrakes in general are looking bleak, the rate they are throwing out updates it's like they are doing it on purpose

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I get it now. I have zero use for what you're talking about.. But I can see how some would want that.
