On Thursday, Twitter announced that the free social networking service has built-in support slow motion videos captured on iOS devices, such as the iPhone.

The slow motion video on iOS devices is captured at a much higher FPS (frames per second) than regular video, such as 120 FPS or 240 FPS. The software in the iPhone then allows the video playback to play at a speed that appears in slow motion for our entertainment, and this is what Twitter needed to build into their software in order to support the slow motion appearance.

Now, when attempting to upload a slow motion video from an iOS device, your followers will be able to play the video and see it in slow motion.

The feature will work both online from the Web and from the social network's mobile applications.
