Default 'EventOnStart' Makes Something of Your Choice Happen When Your Device Starts Up

Wouldn't it be more interesting if instead of just boringly starting up and acting as if nothing had ever happened, that your iPhone would do something interesting when it booted up?

A new free jailbreak tweak called EventOnStart by iOS developer Ziph0n is now available in Cydia and gives you a variety of options for having your iPhone do something interesting when it starts up.

EventOnStart adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the tweak's options to your liking:

Here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, as well as configure what happens when your device boots up. The tweak gives you the following choices for picking what will happen when your device boots back up again after being turned off:

    • Vibration
    • LED flashlight
    • Playing a sound
    • Displaying a welcome message

The welcome message can be configured to anything that you want. As far as the sound-playing goes, you get the following sounds to choose from:

    • Apex
    • Beacon
    • Bulletin
    • By the seaside
    • Chimes
    • Circuit
    • Constellation
    • Cosmic
    • Crystals
    • Hillside
    • Illuminate
    • Night owl
    • Opening
    • Playtime
    • Presto
    • Radar
    • Radiate
    • Ripples
    • Sencha
    • Signal
    • Silk
    • Slow rise
    • Stargaze
    • Simmit
    • Twinkle
    • Uplift
    • Waves
    • Aurora
    • Bamboo
    • Chord
    • Circles
    • Complete
    • Hello
    • Input
    • Keys
    • Note
    • Popcorn
    • Pulse
    • Synth
    • Apple start sound
    • Charging sound
    • Ubuntu start sound

You can pick just one, or you can have multiple events happen at once when your device boots back up.

Notably, the developer has made EventOnStart an open source project, so those of you interested in coding and seeing what makes things tick can view the source code on GitHub at this link.

The developer notes that EventOnStart works on all iOS devices running iOS 6 and earlier, so if you're interested, give it a try from Cydia's BigBoss repository right now for free!
