That media controls section in the Control Center interface is liked by some, and hated by many. It appears even when music isn't being played in the background and makes Control Center feel taller than it needs to be and cluttered.

A new free jailbreak tweak called HideCCMedia by iOS developer AlcoveDevTeam hides the music controls from Control Center unless they're being used. When you're actually listening to any kind of media in the background, HideCCMedia will intelligently show the media controls so you can use them. The moment you kill the application playing the media, the music controls will be hidden once more for your convenience.

Because of the intelligent controls, this tweak may be a more viable solution than a tweak that hides the section outright, since that will hide them even if music is playing and make it more difficult to control your media without opening the application playing the media.

If you're interested in giving HideCCMedia a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak doesn't have any options to configure, as its functionality is purely automatic. The tweak functions on both iOS 7 and iOS 8.
