Default 'Cercube' Adds a Suite of Features to the YouTube App for iOS: Downloading, Ad-blocking

YouTube is probably one of the most-used applications on the iOS platform because videos are awesome, but YouTube lacks a feature out of the box that many users want: video downloading. There are also a lot of other pet peeves that users want to fix for their YouTube experience, such as ad-blocking, no age restrictions, background playback for music, and the ability to stream HD on cellular networks among other things.

A new jailbreak tweak called Cercube by iOS developer Majd Alfhaily is now available in Cydia that brings all of these highly-demanded features to the YouTube application for iOS.

Above, you will see that the tweak adds a nice big, blue "Download" button to the video-downloading interface. When you tap on it, you get to select a video quality that you want to download, whether that's 720p, 480p, or 360p. The tweak doesn't appear to support 1080p downloads or better, but 720p is still fairly good HD quality.

You can see how when the video is downloading, the tweak fills the Status Bar space with a progress bar that shows the download status. The tweak also keeps your downloaded videos in a "Downloads" folder on the left side of the YouTube application from the side bar where you can watch your downloaded videos offline any time you want to, as shown below:

Cercube also adds a settings panel to the YouTube application where you can enable or disable any of the tweak's individual features; they are all enabled by default:

The Cercube experience feels native and stable and adds many of the most-requested features to the YouTube application for a fair price. Cercube is $2.49 in Cydia's BigBoss repository if you want to give it a try. The tweak works on iOS 7 and above, but requires the YouTube application from the iOS App Store to be used. You can download YouTube for free from this App Store link if you don't already have it.

    Name: Cercube

Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 8.1.2

Certainly an option, unless you prefer Google's app and want to hold onto it like many do.

Intube is amazing and saves your videos to your videos app.

Is there something I'm missing in this app that intube doesn't have?

Yes, that is the App Store application.

And just a note about that – the App Store version no longer supports downloading videos in the latest version, so if you don't already have it, you're kind of out of luck and have to be jailbroken for this functionality anyway.

The developer was forced to remove the downloading features by Apple & Google from the App Store version.

Not to say jailbreak users can't download videos in it!
