Default 'SwitchManager' Lets You Take Control of the iOS 8 App Switcher With a Suite of Options

If you're looking for a few ways to make the iOS 8 App Switcher better with no cost, then a new free jailbreak tweak called SwitchManager by iOS developer Davidson could be something worth playing around with.

When you install SwitchManager, the first thing you'll notice is a new preferences pane added to the Settings application, which we've included screenshots of for you below:

The tweak comes with a variety of options to customizing the appearance and functionality of your iOS 8 App Switcher, such as:

    • Enabling or disabling the tweak on demand
    • Hiding or showing now-playing information in the App Switcher
    • Long-pressing on applications to close them
    • Receiving an alert when you kill an application process
    • Automatically dismiss the switcher after you've killed your application processes
    • Swiping up on the Home Screen preview card to show power options
    • Hiding or showing the application icon labels in the App Switcher
    • Hiding or showing a kill applications button in the App Switcher
    • Excluding any applications you want from the App Switcher

A respring is required any time you make changes to these settings so that they can take effect.

The tweak aims to just throw a bunch of useful features out there that users with various needs might be able to take advantage of, and of course, the free price tag makes it easy to consider when you think about downloading this tweak over a paid one.

If you're interested in giving SwitchManager a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. iOS 8 is required to run the jailbreak tweak on your device.

I would have liked a kill-all feature. This would otherwise replace Slide2kill8 Lite for me.
