Default Apple Stops Signing iOS 8.2 Beta 1 & 2 Following TaiG Support for Jailbreaking Them

Just four days ago, the TaiG jailbreak tool for Windows was updated with support for iOS 8.2 beta 1 & 2 so that those who accidentally updated to the non-jailbreakable iOS 8.1.3 would have a way to still jailbreak their devices.

One of the nice things about TaiG's decision to make iOS 8.2 beta 1 & 2 jailbreakable is that no new exploits were needed over the iOS 8.0-8.1.2 jailbreak, since the jailbreak was patched only in iOS 8.2 beta 3 and later. Additionally, iOS 8.2 beta 1 & 2 don't expire, so those with the firmware installed don't have to worry about being overdue.

Unfortunately, however, Apple appears to be on the ball with blocking jailbreakers. As a tipster by the name of Steve points out to us Friday evening, Apple has stopped signing iOS 8.2 beta 1 and beta 2, which means if you're not already on iOS 8.2 beta 1 or iOS 8.2 beta 2, then there's no way to install that firmware anymore (you will be directed to a more recent release of iOS 8.2 beta instead).

Anyone trying to restore their devices starting tonight will be directed to a non-jailbreakable firmware, whether it's iOS 8.1.3 for non-developers, or iOS 8.2 beta 5 for developers. So until a new jailbreak tool is released, those that are jailbroken and happily so are recommended to sit tight and see what happens. We will, of course, keep you updated as any news of a new jailbreak arrives.

iOS 8.2 could be released to the public as early as next Monday with Apple Watch support and more, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that someone in the hacking community has already started making progress on a future jailbreak.

    Thanks Steve!

Did you turn off "Find my iPhone" in the icloud setting. It must be off to work. Otherwise it worked super for me.

Apple is retarded. They didn't realize that the majority of iPhone users prefer jailbreak. They should get over it and stop being on a roll with the signing process. It isn't that serious ! Sticking to beta 2 since they want to me mean

Just purchased a 6 Friday. Came with 8.1.2 so needless to say I'm very happy. Hopefully the next major iOS release is soon and taig/pangu have a solution.

if they don't want us Jailbreaking they need to allow customization software into the AppStore... Themes and everything, Apple is still too restricting

I jailbreak my devices, and I get it... but throwing around phrases like "the majority of iPhone users prefer jailbreak" is asinine. The overwhelming majority of users do NOT jailbreak, nor know much (or anything) about it.

This is what I don't get... why announce you have a JB right on the cusp of a release? Then they just patch it like they did.

Jialbreakers account for less than 5% of iDevice users. I don't call that a majority.

Well congrats to you people who did your research about the number of ppl who jailbreak, it was a simple statement . A guess. I never said it was a fact ! There's no need to comment off of what I said and honestly I'm still going to say it whether I'm right or wrong . No need for you all to keep attacking my majority word. My gosh it was not that serious.

No you can no longer downgrade software . Once upon of time you could upgrade to 8.2 beta 2 or 2 and jailbreak but Apple stopped signing all software expect 8.1.3. Your best bet is to wait for a jailbreak for 8.2 or 8.3 public release

Thanks for the heads up, I will take your advice and wait for a jailbreak for 8.2

No. The process of installing a firmware requires iTunes to contact apples servers to "sign" the firmware ie say that the iDevice is eligible for the build you're trying to install. If Apple say no, you're not eligible then the install will fail. Apple don't want you jailbreaking so they stop signing old firmwares when they release a new one with the exploits patched. Basically if you're not on a Jailbreakable firmware you're screwed until the latest firmware is pwned.
