Default Three Men Arrested in China for Stealing $300,000 Worth of iPhone 6 Devices

Chinese news agency Xinhua has recently reported that three men in Beijing have been arrested by police for stealing 240 Apple iPhone 6 devices. The smartphones apparently belonged to a Chinese logistics firm warehouse, and the three men stole the devices by digging a 20-inch hole into the building’s wall. It was noted that one of the three men who were arrested, had previously worked as a driver for the company. Xinhua noted that the stolen phones were sold, and the money earned were used to purchase gold and cars.

Not too long ago, we reported about a man who was arrested at the Hong Kong border for trying to smuggle 94 iPhone devices through to China. Prior to that incident before the iPhone 6 lineup launched in China, it was reported that people were smuggling iPhones from the U.S. via Twinkie boxes and toothpaste boxes to sell on the black market in China. We guess it is safe to say that iPhones are still more expensive overseas than in other countries. Xinhua also reported that the thieves were eventually tracked down using the smartphones’ serial numbers.
