Default Samsung Unveils New Galaxy A7 Phone to Compete with Apple's iPhone 6 Plus

As Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus swept the cell phone market when it was released, Korean-based company Samsung is looking to make a comeback. It has been reported that Samsung has unveiled its latest Galaxy A7 device. The Galaxy A7 is also 5.5-inches in size with a premium all metal construction. The metal construction replaces the company’s previous plastic backings. The 5.5-inch device sports 2GB of RAM, a Super AMOLED display, and an 8-core application processor.

Samsung appears to be shipping various chipsets based on the specific model. Samsung's Exynos 5430 chipset is found in the A7's single-SIM iteration while the dual-sim iteration comes packed with Qualcomm's Snapdragon MSM8x39 instead. The South Korean tech giant's Exynos chip contains a quad-core Cortex A15 which runs at a speed of 1.8 gigahertz and one quad-core Cortex A7 which runs at 1.3 gigahertz. Meanwhile, Qualcomm's Snapdragon touts two quad-core Cortex A53 processors, both of which run at 1.5 gigahertz and 1 gigahertz.

Those who purchase Samsung’s Galaxy A7 mobile device will get 16GB of storage with a 2,600 mAh battery. The device also has a 5-megapixel front facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The Korean-based company’s Galaxy A7 will be available in three colors this spring; midnight black, pearl white, and champagne gold for around $600. Do you guys think this device will be as popular as Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus? Let us know in the comments below.

Yeah I feel that those Galaxy phones in general, you would here about them just as much.

Nice looking phone. I wonder why? It does sound like it's got some nice hardware under the hood. Too bad it's stuck running CrapDroid (I'm not looking to argue with any Android fanboys. If you like it, great. I hate it, though).

Be a better phone if it could run iOS. One of my major issues with samsung is their crappy plastic build. This goes some way to solving that with all metal premium build. As for android itself I'm not really a fan, feels clunky and slow compared to iOS which feels intuitive and seamless even without a jailbreak

Samsung is on right path making the builds of their phones better. The note 4 looks and feels really good to use. This one looks to stay on that track.

Android lollipop is a big step up for android imo. Got a nexus to try it out and I'm really liking it so far. Borrowed a lot from iOS (I know this street goes both ways) like lockscreen notifications but it really helps. Most polished version of android I've used. Shame that most current androids won't get to use it.

Yes, I can only confirm that. I have one Nexus 7 2013 tablet in my family and I must admit, LoliPop 5.0.1 came a bit closer to IOS, with all the functionality. Even the whole UI looks more familiar than before.

I hope you felt the same about the plastic iMacs and PowerMacs way back when.
Anyhow, it’s better looking that the 6. Just as sleek, a little less tidy on teh front but without that ugly as hell sticky outie camera and grand canyon antenna break.

Dont do it man... I did the same thing mid last year. Got a Nexus 5 to try it out and ended up liking it so much that i sold my Iphone5 and since then stayed with the Nexus 5. I'm a technical person and found that Android let me do a lot of my tasks that i relied on my PC or a jailbroken Iphone for.

I was always rooting for Android from when the G1 came out up until the iPhone 4s came out. Once I traded in my HTC Sensation for the 4s I never looked back and will never go back to Android. Even though it's more open source than iOS I will never go back for so many reasons.

Samsung still trying to blur the lines between there phones and Apple (look at the camera design and location compared to iOS).

It's a shame..... if those who love Android only new, they are loving a cheapened down copy of iOS. It my look similar to iOS, but doesn't have the polish, security and let's not forget fingerprint scanner...... I'm just saying

Bad thing is the $600.00 price tag on a 16GB phone? That's pretty steep for that little memory, but yes I know you can buy MicroSD card to upgrade it, but that's another added cost to make it to your needs. Did Samsung also forgo the finger ID on this model also as they did on the Nexus?

The other thing too, I like having the options depending on which model you get. Though that's good for techie guys, but not so good for the regular customer. The have no idea what they are buying and the capabilities the hardware has.

I always have 1 android and my iPhone. Like to experience both worlds. The android I change almost monthly, the iPhone yearly.

Don't know, got a Nexus 5. Thought about the 6 but just too big for me. Same reason I stuck with the Iphone 6 over the plus.

Again that's a LONG time ago when ALL lappys and computers were plastic. I think the 6 is a lovely looking handset, and I think this is a lovely looking handset. It's basically a choice of OS. iOS v android. I choose iOS (jailbroken) any day

Uhh, iPhone 6 16gb starts at $650. I don't like Samsung but you don't seem educated on phone prices.
