Default Google Releases Brand-new Chrome Remote Desktop App for iOS

Google, on Monday, released a new free application for the iOS platform called Chrome Remote Desktop. The application has been available on the Android platform for some time, although this is the first trace of an iOS release.

The application allows users to connect to their Mac or PC wirelessly using the Chrome Remote Desktop extension for Google Chrome for Mac OS X and Windows. It's a free way to control your computer from your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, similarly to how you would in a VNC application, such as Edovia's Screens VNC application or even the popular TeamViewer application for Mac and Windows.

The desktop extension displays a code that the user needs to enter into the mobile application in order to establish a connection. Since the code is unique for all users, this is how the application keeps your connection secure from others. Once both applications are set up, they can be paired for the connection over the Internet so that the user can control the display of the desktop the mobile application connects to.

Connections are saved from the main interface of the application and you can save as many computers as you would like to.

If you're interested in giving the application a try, it's a free download from the iOS App Store at this link.

Sometimes that happens when a release is so new that the search engine hasn't indexed it yet!

    No problem!
