The timer functionality of iOS 8 is very limited; Apple gives you a timer, and you can just use it to the extent of taking a picture after 3, 10, or 15 seconds, each and every time.

If you want to have more control over how you can use your timed photography in iOS 8, then you need a new free jailbreak tweak called MoreTimer by iOS developer PoomSmart.

With MoreTimer, you can add features to the timed photography in iOS 8. For example, you can set up a timer to take burst photography, add additional timer values to the default ones, enable or disable the camera flash while using the photography timer, and even configure multiple different flash styles for your photography.

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

From here, you can enable or disable the burst capture mode with your photograph timer on demand, enable or disable and configure the camera flash with your photograph timer, configure your additional custom timer times, and more.

If you enable the camera flash while using the photograph timer, you can choose between several different camera flash blinking styles. Among those are:

  • Default
  • All blink
  • All double blink
  • Blink every 2 seconds
  • Double blink every 2 seconds

You can also configure the duration of your double blinks. Under the timer addition section, you can enter your own custom timer amounts. The number you put in these text fields will be represented in seconds.

For those interested in checking out MoreTimer and adding the extra functionality to the timed photography in the Camera application for iOS 8, you can download MoreTimer for free from Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak requires iOS 8 to be installed.
