iOS has a very nice notification system that's easy to use and good at notifying you when things come your way. Unfortunately, the notification process in iOS is very automatic and doesn't come with many options for power-users to fine-tune the way notifications are received.

A new jailbreak tweak called NotificationKeeper by iOS developer Suu is now available in Cydia that will give you more fine-tuned control over your notifications in iOS. The tweak comes with an extensive feature set that you can customize to your liking. Some of the options that the tweak gives you include:

  • Show notifications with certain keywords in them even when Do Not Disturb is enabled
  • Show notifications from certain applications even when Do Not Disturb is enabled
  • Hide notifications with certain keywords in them with Do Not Disturb while leaving other notifications alone
  • Hide notifications from certain applications with Do Not Disturb while leaving other notifications alone
  • Hide notifications with certain keywords from the Lock Screen
  • Hide notifications from certain applications from the Lock Screen
  • Have a custom sound play for notifications with certain keywords in them
  • Tap once on a Notification on the Lock Screen to hide it
  • Tap once in a blank area on the Lock Screen to dismiss all notifications on the Lock Screen
  • Slide down on the Lock Screen to dismiss all notifications on the Lock Screen
  • Tap and hold on a notification banner in order to launch Notification Center
  • Tap on an 'X' button in Notification Center to dismiss all your notifications

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure all of the options to your liking. You can select the keywords that you want to assign your rules to, and you can select the applications that you want to assign your rules to:

Other options include enabling or disabling the tweak on demand, as well as configuring the Lock Screen and gesture rules.

NotificationKeeper is a great way to give yourself more control over the notifications that you actually see and interact with on a daily basis. If you want to give the tweak a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now for just 99. iOS 8 is required to install the tweak.
