Thread: Apple is No Longer Signing iOS 8.1.1; Users Now Forced to iOS 8.1.2 When Restoring

Default Apple is No Longer Signing iOS 8.1.1; Users Now Forced to iOS 8.1.2 When Restoring

Wednesday evening, Apple ceased signing iOS 8.1.1, meaning that the public is no longer able to restore back to iOS 8.1.1 or install a clean install of iOS 8.1.1. Instead, users will be forced to upgrade to iOS 8.1.2 when they attempt to restore their devices in iTunes.

For jailbreakers, this isn't a big deal, as iOS 8.1.2 can still be jailbroken with TaiG for iOS 8. Apple is, on the other hand, testing iOS 8.1.3 for a near-future release, and it's unknown if this small software update will block the TaiG jailbreak or not. If not, TaiG will likely be updated to work with iOS 8.1.3 like it was for iOS 8.1.2.

With that being said, if you want to preserve your ability to jailbreak, now is a good time to get up to date with iOS 8.1.2. You can even go the extra step of jailbreaking iOS 8.1.2 using the TaiG jailbreak tool, although we would recommend holding out to iOS 8.1.3 to see if it can be jailbroken or not before you jailbreak your fresh install of iOS 8.1.2.

So your suggesting to update to 8.1.2 but wait on Jailbreaking until 8.1.3 is out and deemed Jailbreakable?

    This makes no sense!!!

I'm on 8.1.1 but don't want to upgrade unless this update is better.

I've updated to 8.1.2 and cannot jailbreak. Did back up but only when I updated should I do a fresh restore?

Yes. Completely reset your phone and install 8.1.2 from scratch. Then do the jailbreak following the instructions carefully.

    Good luck.

Always do a DFU restore instead of an update! Then always setup as new, not from a backup.

This is the best way to have the cleanest results!

The method I followed that's worked great is to DFU restore, but don't set up the phone. Jailbreak it before setting it up, then restore from backup. You get all your data and much less hassle while still being bug-free.

Did a fresh restore to 8.1.1 and haven't jailbreak yet. Wonder if I just do an update OTA to 8.1.2 , will I be able to Jailbreak with Taig . I know a fresh restore will definitely do it but too much hassle.

I would not do an OTA, but it's your call.
