Default Google Maps Gets Updated to Re-route You When There Are Road Closures

On Friday, Google issued an update for the popular Google Maps navigation service on the iOS platform via the App Store.

Version 4.1.0 of Google Maps is available now with improvements for letting the user know when there is a road closure coming up. The application will now automatically re-direct users when a road is known to be closed so that there's no more inconvenience to the user when they approach a closed road.

Google also cites some additional bug fixes in the update that improve the application's overall reliability and stability.

If you're an existing user of Google Maps for iOS, then this update is available for free right now under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Google Maps for iOS for free right now from the App Store via this link.

Hopefully most bugs have been squished. I use G-maps everyday for work and sometimes it give me the run around and crashes.

That's one of the reasons I use Waze which to me is better.

Gmaps already beats Amaps before the update. I just wish Siri would open directions in gmaps. I'm curious where they get closure info from though...

But how reliable would that be? I see things gmaps all the time that say reported by waze that are at the very least outdated.
But then again it's Google so I just assume they know everything!
