Thread: TaiG Releases Jailbreak for iOS 8.1.1 Devices

Default TaiG Releases Jailbreak for iOS 8.1.1 Devices

Late last night, the TaiG team released an untethered jailbreak for iOS 8.1.1, the latest version of the iOS firmware that Apple has released to date, which patches the Pangu8 jailbreak that has been available to iOS 8.0-8.1 users. The jailbreak is compatible with the following devices:

    • iPod touch 5g
    • iPhone 4s
    • iPhone 5
    • iPhone 5s
    • iPhone 5c
    • iPhone 6
    • iPhone 6 Plus
    • iPad Mini
    • iPad Mini with retina display
    • iPad Mini 3
    • iPad 2
    • iPad 3
    • iPad 4
    • iPad Air
    • iPad Air 2

The tool is also Windows-only for now and there's no word on whether or not the tool will be released for Mac OS X in the future.

Notably, TaiG has a sketchy history in the jailbreak community for bundling a piracy App Store in their jailbreaks; however, this jailbreak appears to give the user the option to install Cydia and/or that store without forcing them to install the TaiG piracy store. With that being said, it's not as scary as it looks just because TaiG has its name written on the jailbreak.

It's worth noting that the jailbreak also supports the iOS 8.2 beta that was recently released by Apple to developers, but it's likely that it won't support iOS 8.2 by the time of the public release as Apple is likely to close the jailbreak by then.

Well-known iOS hacker MuscleNerd notes that the strange timing for the release of the TaiG jailbreak for iOS 8.1.1, despite the fact that iOS 8.1 is still being signed, is likely all about money:

Nonetheless, the jailbreak seems stable enough, and because Cydia already works with iOS 8, there's really no reason for Cydia to be updated to work on iOS 8.1.1, meaning the jailbreak should be stable enough to use. We do, however, recommend waiting a little longer until more jailbreak experts have had the chance to really nit-pick through the jailbreak to see if it's safe for the end user considering TaiG's past.

On the other hand, if you simply don't care and want to jailbreak your iOS 8.1.1 device, you can download the tool at this link.

The race begins. I predict we will start seeing jailbreaks faster than ever before with the Chinese in the game.

The messed up part of all this is that American JB teams would be churning out JBs right and left if they didn't mind cutting some corners too. American JB teams need to understand that the JB doesn't need to be perfect, just mostly not broken is good enough for us.
They can have my jailbreak when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Did 8.1.1 bring any advantages over 8.1? Any real reason to upgrade?

What took you so long Anthony.. 😜..RedmondPie had ya beat by 4 hours.. 😝

As to this new JB world we're in - here's my thoughts..

I find it very interesting how "apparently easy" these Chinese hackers are finding these exploits and getting these jailbreaks. But then again maybe it's not "easy" at all. And maybe the Asian work ethic (that I see in many other aspects of life over here in the US school systems and universities) so far outweighs the American laziness/video-game-all-day/entitled attitude. Our boys over here (evasi0n, etc), though I have respect for what they do, they always took months and months and complained how hard it was to get exploits. Is it possible they just didn't work hard enough?

Things can't be getting "easier" in terms of exploits. Apple tightens up things more and more each time. But as King_O_Hill has always said when you add more code there will always be more mistakes. But it seems like these Chinese boys just "work harder" than our boys want to.

In the days before iOS 5, yes. JB's more difficult after that.. Started taking 3-4 months.

I'll be glad when Cydia does a over haul. Updated with iOS sections and get rid of the old stuff.
