Default 'NoOrientationStatus' Hides the Rotation Lock Icon From the Status Bar When Enabled

The rotation lock feature in iOS is a handy feature that keeps the display from rotating based on the device's orientation while you're holding it. If you are in portrait mode, and you shift the device sideways, the display will rotate (in certain supported applications) into landscape mode.

While the feature is useful, it puts an annoying little icon in your Status Bar to constantly remind you that the feature is turned on. This creates clutter, and if you like the minimalistic feel of an empty Status Bar, then this icon is sure to get under your skin.

A new free jailbreak tweak called NoOrientationStatus by iOS developer nickpet lets you have your cake and eat it too. With this tweak installed, you can have rotation lock turned on and the icon won't show up in the Status Bar anymore, as shown above.

With this, you have less Status Bar clutter, but all of the functionality that you want from iOS' rotation lock feature.

If you want to give NoOrientationStatus a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak works on both iOS 7 and iOS 8 and doesn't come with any options to configure.

I want to be able to lock the home screen and messages while having everything else rotate. Is that possible? The settings for this are kind of confusing.
