On Thursday, Google released a major update for its Google Maps application on the iOS platform, making version 4.0 the latest you can get from the iOS App Store.

The new update gives the application an all-new material design, which brings it up to speed with the Android version of the application. The material design, as Google notes, gives the application "bold graphics, fluid motion, and tactile surfaces." The new design is friendly with the new retina HD displays of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well.

In addition, the application has received OpenTable integration, which means you can now make reservations with restaurants right from the Google Maps application. You'll also be able to see the estimated time and cost of taking an Uber if you have the Uber application installed on your iOS device.

Google Maps 4.0 also optimizes the application better for iOS 8 and includes some bug fixes and stability improvements to make the application work better than ever on iOS devices.

If you're an existing user of Google Maps for iOS, then this update can be had from the Updates tab in your App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Google Maps for free from this App Store link.
