Do u need iTunes installed on pc in order to jailbreak? Or pangu software is stand alone?

I just asked this question. I was going to use work PC to JB but there is no iTunes on it. So you need to have iTunes installed in order to jailbreak with pangu software???

That is correct. The latest version of tunes is required.

So I updated, JB, and restored from backup....Everything was working fine until my phone died, I put it on the charger and it got stuck on the apple logo. Anyone else with this problem or know what caused it?

    which model iphone?

Restored? how many apps? you may not want to restore apps since older apps may have caused the problem

I JB 3 devices no problems

    Ipad mini
    iphone 5
    iphone 6

Everyone's been saying upgrade, setup as new device, jailbreak then restore your backup from iTunes right? That's what I did. I only had flurry, glow board and dock shift installed...

Ok well I found 8.1 location services are draining the battery. I had to turn most off

My iPhone 5 battery life has much improved over 7.1.2. I turned off background location services.

Don't forget to go into Settings/Privacy/LocationServices/ System/Services.. and turn off the buttload of switches in there too. You need NONE of them except traffic.

What do they even do? Some of them sound at least semi-useful.

    I'd install 8.1.1 (12B435) but I can't lose my jailbreak,

Understood. But someone said they were in danger of losing their JB if they went to 8.1.1beta. That's not the case. You can always return to the currently signed firmware then re-jailbreak if one is available as there is now for 8.1.

I'm still on 7.1.2 on both iOS devices. I tried 8.1 on another phone and all the jailbreak tweaks were not ready yet and I don't have that other phone anymore. I'll probably stay on 7.1.2 until everything is ready

Question: I have downloaded the iOS 8.1 firmware and have it on my flash drive saved. So if apple stops signing 8.1, I will not be able to use that download of 8.1 to do a restore in case I needed to restore and re-jailbreak?

Correct. As soon as apple stops "signing" 8.1 the IPSW on your flash drive will be rejected if you try to restore from it.

Thanks. Now hopefully I won't run into any problems. My phone seems to be good now. And I pretty much have it tweaked out the way I want so I'm just gonna leave it. Another words if I decide to download anything else, I am going to research the software before. If not, I'm sure there will be another jailbreak sooner than later.

Your only option for a restore will be iLexRat. That assumes you aren't stuck in a bootloop, though
