Default iFile Gets Updated for iOS 8 and Now Supports the iPhone 6/6 Plus Retina HD Resolutions

The highly popular iFile file browser for jailbroken devices has been updated with official support for iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus' new retina HD displays. Since iFile is such a commonly used tool for editing files in your jailbroken iOS device's filesystem, this great news for the masses of the jailbreak community.

The update not only adds support for iOS 8 and the new devices, but it also brings with it a variety of improvements for users. The whole change log for the new version 2.1.0-1 can be found below:

    Enhancements

    • Added Hebrew localization.
    • Added iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus support.
    • Added icons for iPhone 6 Plus.
    • During search in file list the search magnifying glass icon gets replaced with an activity indicator.

    Fixes

    • Fixed problem in not listing some external viewers, e.g. Whatsapp, Dropbox, iMovie etc.
    • Fixed issue that Bluetooth transfers via GameKit were not working on iOS 7+ anymore.
    • Fixed issue that stored URL from a 2nd tab will be stored back to 1st tab.
    • Fixed that status bar was black on black in Audio Player.
    • Fixed bug in Box SDK that lead to crash on launch on iOS 8.
    • Updated "Pull down to refresh" arrow with iOS 7 styled one on iOS 7 and later.
    • Fixed that integer numbers containing a decimal indicator (, or .) got interpreted as floats in Property List Editor number fields.

If you've just jailbroken your iOS 8 device(s) after yesterday's release of the official English Pangu jailbreak tool for iOS 8, then this is certainly one of the first things you'll want to download on your iOS 8 device(s).

Apparently battery issues are still a bit of a problem for some users. I'm not sure if I'm not having any of if I just got so used to the horrendous battery on my old iPod that anything's an improvement

There is definitly battery issues. I never had problems with battery since I have my 5, but now, it is horrible. Just while typing this, I lost 2%! Saurik seems to be aware cause there is something about high cpu on Cydia's page...

If you purchased it in the past login to your cydia account first on your device, then try to download it again. If you haven't previously purchased it then you will have to wait until Saurik opens up purchases for iOS 8.

    Thanks that worked...

Will this work with other tweaks or is it not wise?

Also when I exit Cydia it doesn't seem to remember me so you have to log in each time?

    Thanks

Should work for all purchased stuff, though some may not be iOS 8 compatible yet. You shouldn't have to keep logging in. Make sure when you go to the manage account part of cydia and login you keep going to the part where it says link device to account.

It's showing the applications but it doesn't show the contents of the app! I can't make any changes for some reason!

I found that. I'm talking about the folders within the application. It's not pulling up documents of each folder. For example, multitrack daw is a recording app. I'm trying to access the mixes that I have created but in ifile it's not showing the documents folder to access my mixes!

Info: Currently Theme makers and Tweak coders are NOT able to set any iOS or device compatibility at Cydia Store. Even if it's compatible with iOS 8. So please read the
changelog for each theme or tweak.
