Default Apple's App Store Bundles and Why They're a Great Idea for Both Users and Developers

In iOS 8, Apple included a new feature in the App Store for developers to take advantage of called App Bundles. This feature effectively allows application developers of several applications to bundle up a number of their applications in the iOS App Store at a discounted price.

Apple allows developers to bundle up to 10 applications in a bundle at once, and one application can be present in up to three separate bundles at once. If a user already owns an application in the bundle, the user has the option to complete the bundle at a discounted price to get the rest of the applications in that bundle.

Take, for example, Panic, Inc.'s application bundle of Transmit iOS and Prompt 2 for just $16.99. Normally, these two applications are $9.99 each. This bundle allows an iOS 8 user that wants both applications to snag both of them and save themselves $3 in the process:

Now, the user has both of the applications that they had wanted, and they have another $3 to spend elsewhere in the App Store, or to put towards their next electric bill or for gas or food.

The App bundling actually benefits both the user and the application developer. It benefits the user because of the aforementioned reason that it saves money in the long run, but it benefits the developer because it not only drives more sales, but it helps with application discovery.

With application bundling, application developers can help make their other applications better known in the iOS App Store to users by bundling one application that a user may be interested in with a number of that developer's other applications. With the driven sales, developers will see additional income from their work in the long run.

Overall, we believe this is a huge step forward for the App Store and think that the current implementation of App Bundles in the App Store feels seamless and useful for App Store users.

Where did you find that Outdoor Box bundle? One thing I hate about the app store is it's so hard to find anything. I've searched all 4 app names, the company name and the bundle name. Can you comment with the appstore link?

Oh yes. I'll buy an app before I buy a hamburger. Common sense for a geek.

Give a man a burger, he'll eat for a day. Give a man a couple high quality apps and he'll be too into playing to remember to eat anyway.

    ......beware......
