Default Microsoft Launches New Skype Qik Group Video Messaging App

On Tuesday, Microsoft launched a new application for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone called Skype Qik. The application is a group video-messaging application that lets you basically just enter a group chat and begin sharing videos. You can send freshly-recorded videos, or videos that have been sitting in your photo library.

You can create groups easily by using the contact information in your Contacts application. Those that don't already have Skype Qik will be provided with instructions on how to get it to see your message. Since it's a cross-platform application, you won't have to worry about whether or not they have an iPhone, or another device like yours.

Messages are automatically removed after two weeks to keep your content fresh, but you also have the option of manually erasing your message from the conversation so that it disappears for everybody.

You can check out Microsoft's teaser video of Skype Qik below:

Skype Qik is a free download from the iOS App Store at this link.

I see lots of (very bad) potential for this app. Self deleting vid sharing? This is gonna become the kid porn Mecca if Microsoft doesn't do something preemptively.
