Default Apple Reportedly Testing iOS 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3 Simultaneously

According to the folks over at 9to5Mac, Apple appears to be simultaneously testing three various iterations of iOS 8 which may be released on an expedited schedule. Web server analytics are indicating that Apple is currently actively testing iOS 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3. This particular development appears to be unusual one though given that Apple typically only tests one version of iOS (a full update, a major update and a minor update) instead of three major updates at once.

The most common explanation to this peculiar pattern all points towards the major product launches over the coming months. The company is set to roll out Apple Pay in October with the new NFC-based payment system likely to fall into the major software update category. Other products said to be coming out in the near future include an Apple Watch and a rumored 12.9-inch “iPad Pro.” Both of these devices are anticipated to having a launch sometime early next year and would likely be accompanied by a significant iOS update to

If you’re reading this article and/or you don’t live under a rock, chances are you already know that Apple released iOS 8 earlier this month. The new iteration of iOS includes support for extensions, widget notifications and third-party keyboards. The new iteration of iOS 8 has had a rough launch due to various issues including HealthKit-enabled apps being temporary removed, an iOS 8.0.1 update issue regarding disabled cellular connectivity and Touch ID among others. That being said, Apple finally seems to be on the right path now and is likely testing heavily to avoid future mistakes.

You know why they are testing 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 all at the same time? They know a jailbreak wont be released till the last announced firmware is released so if they start testing all 3 now the jailbreak wont be out till after 8.3 is released. What if they never release 8.3 that means a jailbreak wont be released either.

Another theory is apple have become so bad at it they know there are so many bugs it'll take 3 updates to fix all of them so they might as well work on 3 firmwares to try and fix all the bugs its currently got.

Its a hard choice to know which is the real excuse but in the end its IOS7.1 until something stable and jailbroken comes along.

Maybe different versions to isolate problems within each version. Hope one of them fixes my iPad mini non-retina problems on iOS 8.0.2. Locks up for 5-20 seconds and touch screen becomes unresponsive. Have done a DFU restore as new iPad. No help. Have started using my wife's iPad 4 until them. Hers has iOS 8.0.2 and works great.
