Default Blackberry Introduces The Passport and Takes a Jab at iPhone 6 Plus Bending Controversy

Blackberry officially launched its new Passport device today and has joined in on the iPhone bashing. John Chen, Blackberry’s new CEO from November, took a jab at Apple reiterating recent news circulating the web regarding bending of the iPhone 6 Plus. At the Toronto event, he said to his business customers “I would challenge you guys to bend our Passport.” Apple has yet to address this issue even with the trending hashtag #bendgate on Twitter. Although Chen did not specifically out Apple’s iPhone, everyone knows bending of a phone has to do with Apple’s new 6 Plus device.

Blackberry’s new tactic is to gear their devices towards the business and professional market as opposed to targeting general consumers like Apple. Apple has mainly taken over the smartphone market ever since its launch years ago. Those who remember, almost everyone wanted to own a Blackberry device just a few years ago with their most popular feature, ‘BBM’. However, that has changed drastically in the last 7 years or so. It wasn’t long ago that rumors were going around saying Blackberry was going bankrupt.

Have you chimed in on the #Bendgate trend? Let us know in the comments below.

“I would challenge you guys to bend our Passport.”
I would challenge Blackberry to sell even one of these new Passport devices. 2001 called... it wants its physical keypad back.
Go home Blackberry. You're no longer relevant.

It hurts to look at that thing. What were they thinking? It looks like something out of the 80's.

I heard that the accompanying device for this phone is a time machine that can only go back to 1999.

I think '99 is a bit too recent.

One way to describe BlackBerry, stubborn!!!

  22. #17
Anything made of metal bends under enough pressure. A galaxy s5 will snap. Black sheep, I mean blackberry is the absolute last company that should bash anybody. Tim Cook is looking at that thing laughing his *** off I bet.

C'mon give them some support here at least they're making smart phone for a long time before Apple and Samsung came in the picture and some of you here used blackberry at some point when we don't have iphone or samsung before. At least they're taking a risk making the phone not look same like other phone on the market now.I think they'making the shape like that to maintain a big screen with a physical keyboard.I will buy one to support them and I'm not an ifan or samfan or blackfan just only to support everyone equally.

That may be true, but to not really be in the "smart phone" industry anymore and try to come back with that retro looking calculator.........they have some really big cohonas taking jabs at the company that most of their former clients flocked too.
