Default Facebook Updates Facebook Messenger for Full iOS 8 Compatibility

On Thursday, Facebook released an update for its Facebook Messenger application on the iOS platform. The update, dubbed version 12.0, is available to download right now under the Updates tab in the App Store application for existing users.

Version 12.0 adds full support for iOS 8. Those on iOS 8 devices will notice that the new application now plays much nicer with third-party keyboards, such as Swype, when attempting to switch over to the image picker to send media to a friend.

In addition, it should run much smoother with the rest of iOS 8's new native functions, and should be much more bug-free than before on Apple's new operating system, meaning a much better user experience with version 12.0.

If you're not already an existing user of Facebook Messenger for iOS, then you can download the application for free from this App Store link.

Exactly!!! Plus it's been on mainstream media channels about it also. Saying there are concerns about it. Almost everyone I know has deleted it from there phones.

Not to sure about the FB app either now? They use the same descriptions when they do their 3-4 week updates. They don't post what they are fixing or doing anymore! For all we know they have change stuff we don't know about.

I just realized when I get my new iPhone tomorrow, I'll have to download Facebook for it.

As it is right now, I have the regular FB app with the Cydia tweak that allows messages to be sent and received without having to download FB Messenger. Since the new iPhone won't have a jailbreak(yet), i'm gonna be without messages on my phone till there's jb and tweak. I am NOT downloading Messenger, FU FB!

A load of scare mongering if you ask me, permissions required to actual use the camera and microphone etc are needed to record video with sound within the app and what not...... Ur choice.... No sweat
