Default Apple Will Reportedly Pre-install iWork and iLife Apps on 64GB and 128GB iPhone 6/6Plus

Apple is offering three different storage options for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus – 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB. Those opting for the 64GB or 128GB versions of these devices will reportedly be in for a little surprise when they unbox their device and start looking at their Home Screen.

As MacRumors reports, Apple will reported be pre-installing its iWork and iLife suite applications on the 64GB and 128GB versions of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus prior to shipping them to the consumer. Those include Keynote, Numbers, and Pages for the iWork suite, and GarageBand and iMovie for the iLife suite. iTunes U will reportedly also be included.

Those with the 16GB iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus will have the option to download the applications individually for free from the iOS App Store, but due to storage constraints, they won't come pre-installed as a courtesy to the customer. Users will be able to remove the applications from their 64GB or 128GB iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus if they choose not to use them, although the pre-installation is simply a way for Apple to get more users to use their applications.

It's worth noting that iOS 8, which will come on all iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units, includes the iBooks and Podcasts application bundled with the operating system, and cannot be removed by the user. This is just another of Apple's attempts to push users to use more of Apple's applications and features.

Missed that sentence, thanks. I'll probably give them a shot and uninstall them once I realize that I might use it once a month.

I've never been a fan of pre-loaded apps unless it's something very funditmental like phone, contacts, or even web browser. But Apple makes it so dead-simple to delete these apps that it's really not that big of a deal.

But, at the very least, you should have the option to delete the standalone apps like Podcast or iBooks. They're pretty light, but they still take up screen space. And it's just the priciple of the thing.
