Thread: Apple Confirms Demand for New iPhone 6 and 6 Plus is Higher Than Any in the Past

Default Apple Confirms Demand for New iPhones is Higher Than Any in the Past

Following a statement from an AT&T executive suggesting that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders were extremely satisfactory, the Cupertino-based Apple themselves have revealed that last night's pre-order event saw more pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus than any of the predecessor years of iPhone pre-orders.

An Apple spokesperson told Re/code that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders are the most successful yet:

Quote Originally Posted by Apple Spokesperson

The exact numbers are unknown at this point in time, although we do know that Apple is planning to ship more than 80 million units of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus breed before the end of 2014, which would be a record-breaking amount.

Apple's Web site, as well as carrier Web sites, were slammed last night while people all around the country were awake at 12:01 A.M. PDT (3:00 A.M. EST) attempting to pre-order their iPhones. Traffic was so swamped everywhere that many people had to wait over an hour just to place their orders.

iPhone 6 Plus shipping times are already slipping to 3-4 weeks, and it's only expected to get worse, so we would recommend ordering as soon as possible if you want to reserve your device. iPhone 6 units are showing shipping estimates dead on with Apple's September 19th release date, suggesting that either demand for the iPhone 6 is lower than the demand for the iPhone 6 Plus, or that Apple has created more iPhone 6 than they have iPhone 6 Plus units.

Really? And where did you get that stats from?
I've spoken to lots of people and nobody here is getting one. I've read lots of comments on a lot of forums and nobody is interested in the iPhone anymore.
I think the 6plus will be just like the 5C. A flop from the start. If people wanted a big phone they already own a Galaxy Note 1/2/3/4 so the phablet market is already done. Anyone that went from iPhone to Android wont go back to iPhone.

"the phablet market is already done" i guess i missed the countless threads of people asking for smaller phones

"I've spoken to lots of people and nobody here is getting one." Do you work at Samsung?

"I think the 6plus will be just like the 5C. A flop from the start" I think the big question here is, where do YOU get your stats from.

Are you brainless or just looking for attention?

Sprint already mentioned that the demand for the new iPhones is higher than before and so has AT&T confirmed the same. Stating that the demand is greater than last year or the previous year. Gazelle reported that since the announcement of the iPhone 6 and the 6+ there has been a surge of trade ins. And even with all that you will sayings that the iPhone is dead?! Lol way too funny. If ppl weren't interested in the iPhone why haven't the sales dropped?

    Uh...

The information was obtained from both AT&T and Apple, as noted in the article.

Two very reliable sources can't both be wrong as you suggest in your logic.

Apple already knew this to be the case. Its the most different phone they have ever built. Going to draw a lot of curiosity. Any Droid lover that only has droid for size will more than likely switch. Most i speak with want one..including me! Ordered my 6+ and can't wait for the 19th woohoo!

Android fans are worried, and for good reason. The reason most people everyone I know that switched from Apple to Android did so because of the bigger screens that Android offered.

Now the only real reason I can see to switch to Android is expandable storage and battery swapping, and those are hardly a problem.

Expandable storage is quickly becoming a thing of the past when you can simply upload all your photos to Instagram or Imgur or Dropbox, or listen to all your music via a cloud service or Spotify. Cloud computing is very quickly ending our reliance on massive cell phone storage.

Extra batteries still cost money, and battery power on the iPhone can be expanded with all kinds of chargers, some built right into a case if you're planning on extended trips away from an outlet. The fact is that power will ALWAYS be a problem for mobile devices. Every user has to more or less worry about it at some point during the day.

Working on pre-ordering an iPhone 6, 16gb through the Sprint website at the moment.

I was a hardcore droid guy.. I even bought the LG G3 cash and used it for a day.. That was the worse mistake ever.. Returned it, paid the restocking fee and now I waiting for the 6+ 128 gb.. Droids have many tweaks, but who really uses them all? iPhone has what we need and use, plus it's built to last and it's quality that matters.. I'll never go back to Android..

I'm really bummed. Got online at 12:00AM and was finally able to get my Silver iP6+ 128GB preordered at about 1:30AM. By then shipping slipped to Oct 1st-6th. So much for getting it on release day. What are the chances that shipping times improve? I know its happened in the past.

I'm on the same boat man.. :/ I'm really hopeful of getting it before the 19th or on the 19th.. That's the reason I pre-ordered ......
