On Thursday, Microsoft updated its acquired Skype application for the iPhone to version 5.4 with even more improvements. The update comes after the recent Skype 5.0 update for iPhone that revamped the look and feel of the application.

In Skype 5.4, Skype for iPhone has been given some notable features. For example, you can now have a group audio call with up to four people in it. You can turn any chat that you're talking in, or any audio call that you're talking in into a four-person audio call whenever you want right from the mobile application. You also have the choice, if you're the host, to add or remove people from the group audio call.

Other improvements for the application are in the accessibility department and include the ability to have any new messages that you receive read out to you from anywhere in the application. In addition, you can now delete recent conversations from the VoiceOver Rotor. Other bug fixes and performance improvements have also been added in this update.

If you're and existing user of Skype for iPhone and iPod touch, you can download this update for free from the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Skype for iPhone and iPod touch for free from this App Store link.
