Default 'WallpaperPlus' Gives You More Control Over Your iOS 7 Wallpapers

You've got to love wallpapers. They spice up our Home Screens and Lock Screens with something nice to look at so that our devices aren't boring and pitifully under-featured. iOS 7 comes with a great wallpaper handling system, but the jailbreak community can always seem to find ways to improve on iOS' way of doing things.

iOS developer iMokhles has just released a new free application in the Cydia Store called WallpaperPlus, which gives you even more options for spicing up your wallpaper images before you actually set them. This is an application, and not just a jailbreak tweak, so you will actually find yourself with a new application icon on your Home Screen after installing.

When you open the application, this is what you will see:

The three buttons you have in this interface are "Photos," "Camera," and "Browse."

The Photos button lets you view your stock iOS wallpapers gallery and manage the wallpapers however you want. You can add external images, and even tinker with the existing images. Tinkering includes being able to save, share, copy, print, and more:

The tweak also opens up the directory of wallpapers to /var/mobile/documents /WallpaperPlus/ where you can add new images if you want to, so that they'll appear in this interface from the WallpaperPlus application.

If you tap on the Camera button from the WallpaperPlus application, you will be taken to your Camera where you can take a new picture to set as your wallpaper. Conversely, if you tap on the Browse button from the WallpaperPlus application, you will be taken to your Camera Roll where you can pick an existing image to set as your wallpaper.

Whenever you take or pick an existing image to set as your wallpaper, the tweak will give you many editing options to make the wallpaper look how you want it to:

Look familiar? The WallpaperPlus editing tools are almost identical to one of iMokhles' popular jailbreak tweaks called Rendarya. WallpaperPlus lets you edit your wallpaper images by adding filters, adjusting the colors, adding effects, adjusting blur and focus, rotating, cropping, resizing, adding text and emoticons, and more.

As a final addition, WallpaperPlus adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a couple of options:

Here, you can enable or disable WallpaperPlus on demand, enable or disable the Parallax effect, and apply any changes that you make with the apply changes button at the bottom of the preferences pane.

WallpaperPlus definitely looks like a promising tool, especially considering that it's free of charge. On the other hand, it is ad-supported and the ads seem to just randomly pop up when you're trying to tap, which can cause you to frustratingly get bumped to the App Store at times.

If you want to give WallpaperPlus a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. iOS 7 iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads are supported.

What makes this better than just taking a picture and editing it in a different photo app?

Not really useless, lol. It will STILL do what it's intended to do, so there's a use!

The reason you have to deal with ads is because of the integrated Rendarya features. Rendarya is a paid jailbreak tweak.

I agree with shelton here, there's a lot of free/lite apps that are sponsored by ads, but too much is too much With all due respect for the dev, this app stayed less than a minute on my device...
