Default 'panicLockPro' Prevents People From Opening Your Most Sensitive iOS Apps

Earlier this month, we took the time to show you a new jailbreak tweak called panicLock by iOS developer Ruslan Ardashev, which allowed you to keep people out of your iOS applications by ultimately making it appear that the applications would crash when the user attempted to open them. The panicLock feature could be enabled or disabled on demand with Activator so that you could actively choose when you needed the feature.

Ardashev has just released panicLockPro in Cydia with additional features, as promised. With the Pro version of the tweak, you're not forced to lock the user out of all of your applications instead, you can choose to only lock them out of the important applications, such as Settings, Facebook, Messages, and others.

With only certain applications appearing to crash, and not all of them, it is much more believable that there may be a problem and not a security tweak causing the applications to crash, and a thief that has stolen your iOS device will have no idea why it's happening. Fortunately, because they can't get into any of your applications, your information will be safe from their eyes.

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

From here, you can configure an Activator action for toggling panicLockPro on or off, and you can pick the applications on your device that will be forced to close as soon as they're opened so that the user cannot get into them and view your personal information.

We think that the idea is good and that panicLockPro could help keep your information safe while stumping the thief, but you can also give the free panicLock a try and see how the tweak works before buying. PanicLockPro is a 99 purchase from Cydia's BigBoss repository and requires iOS 7 to be installed.

You can watch the developer's instructional video on the tweak below:

So many paranoid security apps. Guess we are like that as a culture.
