The car calling service, Uber, recently unveiled a new API and affiliate programs that allow developers to integrate the company’s services. The services include destination finding, pickup times, fare estimates, and trip history. The affiliate programs allow users to earn Uber credits through complementary apps.

Uber made the announcement that “any app with a map” can take advantage of the new features. The company continued by announcing several launch partners including but not limited to Expensify, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, OpenTable, Starbucks, Smart Calendar, TripAdvisor, United Airlines. Going forward, Starbucks app users can request a ride to their local cafe without leaving the app, for example, while those planning a trip using TripAdvisor can plan ahead of time as part of their trip.

What’s a bit strange is that the company hasn’t made the ability to actually book a ride available to developers. According to Uber, they will be rolling that functionality out “in a more controlled fashion, starting with a small set of partners.” As of right now, the company is also offering a discount of up to $30 to users who are new to the service.

Are any of you excited about seeing Uber services integrated with other popular apps?
