There are times when it would be convenient to have a quick way to change the display brightness without having to open another user interface, such as Control Center or the Settings application. For this reason, you might want to check out a new free jailbreak tweak called Brightness Activator 2 by iOS developer ichitaso.

As the name suggests, Brightness Activator 2 is an Activator-driven jailbreak tweak. With it, you will be able to use Activator as a way to quickly get your display brightness level right where you want it.

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a number of various options:

From here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, disable use of the tweak while on your Home Screen, disable use of the tweak while you have the iOS keyboard open, and disable the tweak while in certain applications (blacklist).

You will also find a slider with which you can configure how drastic the display brightness change will be when you invoke your Activator action. The lower you put this slider, the less the Activator action will impact your brightness, while the higher you put this slider, the more the Activator action will impact your brightness.

You can also enable a Force option, which will dramatically increase the amount of power your Activator action will have on the display brightness. For example, with it disabled, you might only impact the display brightness by about 5% per action; however, when you have the feature enabled, you could impact the display brightness by as much as 20% per action.

At the bottom of the preferences pane, you will find a way to configure an Activator action for increasing the display brightness and configure an Activator action for decreasing the display brightness.

The developer demonstrates most of these features in the YouTube video below:

If you're looking for a tweak like this to give you a little more fine-grained control over your display brightness in a pinch while in the middle of playing a game, or watching a movie, or even while just reading your Facebook feed, Brightness Activator 2 might be worth checking out.

Brightness Activator 2 is compatible with iOS 6 and later, all the way through iOS 7.1.2. Activator is required for the installation, so it will be installed alongside Brightness Activator 2 if it's not installed already. If you want to give Brightness Activator 2 a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository.
